Emus

Several years ago we rescued 8 emus from starving to death in a feed lot. The money for feed had run out just as the thriving emu business had. Emu meat was suppose to be good and my husband and neighbor had decided to try some. The emus arrived in bad shape. They were wild but so desperate for food they quickly were coming near and eating as fast as we  put feed out. Another few days and they were eating out of our hands. Eating THEM was forgotten. Two died shortly after we got them and 3 were killed two years ago by coyotes. They are the "Big Birds" at our farm and have the run of the pasture, along with our cows.
